There are five senses, one of touch, taste, smell, sight and hearing associated with the human body; there is yet another, a sense of thought also. The information processed by them directly affects the Qalb(Heart). If the eye sees something beautiful, a beautiful flower, a lovely picture, the Qalb(Heart) also feels delighted; if it sees something ugly, the Qalb(Heart) also feels distressed. If the ear hears something good or bad, or if the tongue indulges in noble or loose talk, the Qalb(Heart) feels their effect. Similarly, the thought process of the brain also affects the Qalb(Heart). When, it is advised to close the eyes during Zikr(Remembrance), lock the tongue, move the body slightly and focus the mind on ‘Allah Hoo’, all these steps are aimed at reducing the external effects on the Qalb(Heart). If the Qalb(Heart) is distracted, it will divide its attention and consequently its connection with Zikr(Remembrance) Allah will be lost. It means the Qalb(Heart) can remain attentive to only one thing at one time. The ‘power of concentration’ is, in fact, one of the yoga practices and worship of Hindus. These are exercises of the brain that are similar to telepathy. This power is attained by focusing the entire mental energy at one point. Such people start with constantly gazing at the flame of a candle for five minutes in the beginning and gradually extend this time to several hours. Those who become experts can continue gazing at the sun for hours at a time. They do this to attain the ability to focus the entire mental energy at one point. Having attained it, they use this ability to transfer their thoughts to other people’s minds or to read their minds to some extent. During these times, you are using machines for similar purposes.

I have been interested in learning (more) about Yoga and similar exercises lately. And I think it especially necessary for me to do now, for I have discovered that when one is interested in many exciting and fascinating things of importance to the soul – then it gets overwhelming… 🙂
But when I look at something which I truly enjoy, to see or hear, and I have a bit of time, then I feel kind of lost – in a good way – in its wonder. And then it is almost like a feeling of being reborn.
Focusing the mind – concentration, in the way you describe it here – sounds amazing! 🙂
Truly meditating, I believe, is a path to a greater revelation… 🙂

The wonderment of coming across something intriguing is an amazing feeling. As you said, it feels like part of us is reborn and it gives us hope and motivation in life that there are positive outlets for those who seek them. That pure quest for knowledge, learning and understanding is a blessing. May we be all purely curious in learning and understanding. 🙂
Yes mediation and spiritual practices make us understand ourselves more about the real human within us, our soul. I wish you all the best in your endeavors. 🙂

I have for a long time held that there are strong connections between the mystical paths of the different religions. I find it interesting that you link your “power of concentration” with yoga practices in this way – and definitely, yes, I agree.
My knowledge of Islam is sadly limited, but the posts you have here speak eloquently of a mystical side to it which I had not even suspected existed. Fascinating! 🙂

Thank you for your comment! 🙂
Yes the mystical side is the pearl within the shell, its core, it’s secret. It is a vast deep ocean, the more you dive deep more amazement follows 🙂

Yeah. It is pearl within the shell. It is core and secret. Let Mankind now understand that. Regards

Your pearl comment reminded me of a parable..and now it makes sense.
“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

I enjoyed reading your post. It made me think how the senses are linked to the heart, good one! I will be more conscious of what my senses take in, moving forward.

I agree! This post is beautifully written and the explanation of how the heart is connected makes me want to guard it more carefully. Why not guard one of our most precious treasures?

Developing the power of concentration and focus has value indeed. However, sungazing can cause permanent damage to the eyes: https://www.drweil.com/health-wellness/body-mind-spirit/vision/is-gazing-into-the-sun-good-for-you/

I would prefer the use of the word soul when referencing the heart if you are alluding to yoga here.

The power of concentration has been recognized as a quality which needs to be honed in order to achieve God. In modern days, an easier aspect of it which is mindfulness is also being practised.
I have started writing on spirituality from the perspective of Sanatan Dharma or Hinduism. Kindly follow my blog and stay in touch.

This was awesome. The spiritual path I’ve been on is such that it’s confusing. It’s like you are following something, yet no idea what it is or where it is going. I just meditate, do qigong, do yoga, train, and it always works out some kind of way. In practice, I’m an extremely logical person that doesn’t present as intuitive in the least. That’s because intuitive is energy sensitive. What is meant by energy sensitive isn’t very well explained in words. These words help express an understanding hard to explain in the part of the world I’m in. Thank you for that

I would say that being intuitive is often much deeper than feeling energy – it is an innate ability of the soul to know something. It is the question of being able to connect with this intuition – you may notice that it is easiest to do in nature (because harmony is present there) or at least in a place where outside stimulation is absent. Once this ability evolves, it because easy to connect with it in any setting.
Being energy sensitive can also harm one’s intuition – because energy sensitivity can be overwhelming and throw off your intuition.

Yes! I have done the “candle exercise” as it was called. This was years ago and was one practice that started me on the path to clear my mind enough to begin writing. Thanks !

Your reflection was posted on my birthday 🙂 Thank you for writing this piece/peace of truth! I contemplate this part of your post:
If the Qalb(Heart) is distracted, it will divide its attention and consequently its connection with Zikr(Remembrance) Allah will be lost.
Keep writing light to a sometimes dark world, Christina
